You’ve watched “An Inconvenient Truth”. You’ve seen the live presentation by Anne Parker. Now you can get involved by taking action. Northview’s Eco Challenge organized by the Grade 12 CyberARTS class will be holding a competition on energy conservation within our school.  Prizes will be awarded for the best proposal/project for each age group. ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ORIGINAL WORK.

Contest # 1

Make an Action Plan

The goal of Real Solutions for An Inconvenient Truth project is to have students develop ideas on how to save energy within the school.  The project is hosted on staging.zazengo.com a website dedicated to people who make a difference in our society.

Contest # 2      Inspire -> Awareness -> Action

Design a poster to promote energy conservation. It can contain information on facts or figures on energy use. The poster will give people ideas on how to save energy, whether you focus on one topic (example: light bulbs) or energy saving as a whole. The poster will be judged on its effectiveness and design.

OR

Take a picture of an event that you organized to help conserve energy (for example: tree planting, home audit- changing to energy efficient bubs, etc.). Incorporate that picture into a poster that communicates ideas about how to conserve energy.

Requirements

Minimum paper size is 8.5 x 11”.  If digital the file needs to be 300 ppi and saved as a jpeg. All content must be appropriate for a high school audience. The overall impression should be “eye catching”.

The artwork will be judged in 2 categories for junior (grades 9 and 10) and senior (grades 11 and 12) categories
